Photography in Venice
August - September 1985 – Chiesa di S.Samuele Venice – Exposition curated by Ziva Kraus’s Ikona Photo Gallery Text on catalogue I n t r o d u c t i o n by Ziva Kraus ….Michele Alassio is a young Venetian photographer of clear precise poetical expression. Alassio has made photography his raison d’čtre, identifying it with his life and consciousness. From the “labyrinth” that is Venice many images have come into being: the stagnation of time, light and shade. These photographs are fixed in the iconographic image of an expressionism which does not struggle for any ideal, but only denounces the state of things. His photography defines itself through images as human life defines itself through man’s choices and his own destiny……. |
